I’d like to share a lovely note of congratulations (for my award nomination in the AZ Authors Association Literary Contest and as an award-winning finalist of the National Best Books Awards of 2009) from my dear friend Carol Downing, a teacher at Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf, who also provided the sign language interpretation on the Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy DVD (based off of my children’s book of the same name).
I just wanted to tell you that Maria has shared your fantastic news with me about your nominations to be announced in Arizona and New York!
All I can say is that when true and honest people do true and honest things from their heart – and then are recognized for the beauty it creates…all is well with the world.
From the bottom of my heart…Congratulations – to all of us here at Blossom you have already won, hands down.
Hugs , Carol D. aka “Danny’s hands”

Much devastation was caused by the Victoria, Australia wildfires of February 2009, including the loss of the children’s book collections at the local libraries and schools.
Through the hard work of authors, writers, concerned citizens and the coordinated efforts of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI), the book collections have been re-built as a result of generous book donations from around the world.

I am very pleased to have been able to donate a copy of my Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy to the collection, plus it’s great to know that the local Victoria, Australia children will have the opportunity to get to know the lovable storybook characters: Danny and his traveling companion Skipper.
I do hope that the book brings joy and sparks the imaginations of the children, in the same way that it has done here in the States!

It is such a delight to know that the Count, from the Sesame Street that we all know and love, will be present for the “Sesame Street Halloween” family concert tomorrow night in Pasadena, CA.
Danny the Dragon (lovable character from my children’s series of the same name) will surely enjoy this introduction. And I hope that the 2,000 attendees will as well.
Time to get back to getting prepared for the event!

The excitement is mounting for the “Sesame Street Halloween” Concert (to be performed by the Pasadena City College Orchestra) at Pasadena City College on October 30th 2009.
Not only is this a big debut for my children’s book series Danny the Dragon, but this also marks the official release of the accompanying Danny the Dragon DREAMS CD and audiobook, profits of which are donated to the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University Medical Center. We will also be providing a sneak preview of the Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy DVD with sign-language interpretation, profits of which go to the Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf.

Recently I had the opportunity to be interviewed by a Kindergarten teacher on her radio show Teacher Talk Radio.
A wonderfully enlightening show, we discussed topics of importance to teachers, educators, parents and children. Click here to listen to the show.
I highly recommend that you listen in. I trust that you will gain new insight from it. Leave me a comment to let me know what you think!
P.S. We have set a tentative date for early in the new year to do a show dedicated solely to the topics of gluten-free and celiac, two issues that I’m very passionate about.
