<p>If you’ve been keeping up with me for a while, you’ve probably heard me mention and quote the benefits of a GF <a href="http://www.glutenfreehelp.info/tina-turbin/b-vitamin-supplements-recommended-for-celiac-patients/">multivitamin</a> on the <a href="http://www.glutenfreehelp.info/gluten-free-recipes/">gluten-free diet</a>. After all, it’s common sense health advice. Now there’s scientific evidence that shows that taking a daily multivitamin also increases <a href="../natural-alternatives/increase-your-life-span-and-have-fun-while-you%E2%80%99re-doing-it/">longevity</a>!</p>
<p>The study in the <em>Journal of Clinical Nutrition</em> shows that with a daily vitamin supplement, telomeres were lengthened by 5.1%. Not just any vitamins were taken, but specifically the powerful antioxidants, Vitamins B12, C, and E.  Telomeres are considered to be the anti-aging “key.” Part of the DNA, they’re found in every cell in the body. As cells divide, however, telomeres become shorter, which means that cells are getting “older,” and lengthening telomeres will lead to a longer, healthier life.</p>
<p>You can take B12, C, and E regularly in supplement form, but it’s important to also get these in your diet as well. Food sources of Vitamin B12 include grass-fed beef, salmon, tuna, and milk; vitamin C can be found in produce such as kiwi, strawberry, orange, grapefruit, and red and green bell peppers; and vitamin E can be found in spinach, broccoli, almonds, peanuts, olive oil and kiwi.</p>
<p>Here are the minimum daily values recommended <em>in supplements</em> for keeping telomeres long: 100 mcg of Vitamin B12, 3,000 mg of non-synthetic Vitamin C, and 200 to 400 IU of vitamin E in mixed tocopherols form, the last of which needs to be taken with food because it is a fat-soluble supplement, requiring fat in order to be absorbed.</p>
<p>Now you have no excuse not to take your GF multivitamin every day—not only is it “insurance” to make sure you’re getting all the nutrients you need, but it’s also an effective anti-aging method at minimum cost and maximum convenience!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>     You’ve probably heard me talking about the health and longevity benefits of volunteering. Now people are asking me how to get started. First, volunteer at a local organization doing something you enjoy that you feel is important to the community. Studies show that people who volunteer at two or more organizations have a forty-four percent lower death rate than those who don’t volunteer at all. These results are comparable to the effects of exercising four times a week. Not only are you helping others, but also, just as in exercise, you’re boosting your body’s immune system with your good works. As someone who cares passionately about <a href="http://www.tinaturbin.com/">women’s issues</a>, family issues, and children’s issues such as kids misdiagnosed or <a href="http://www.dannythedragon.com/">children’s literacy</a>, it wasn’t hard to find several organizations to work with. Find something you care about, whether it’s reading to children or elderly care, and you’ll be able to find work which will bring you a high level of satisfaction. In no time, you’ll find yourself actively involved in activities that will improve your health and will help others!</p>

The latest in anti-aging research shows there are some new ways to significantly increase your life span which, especially in the <a href="http://www.tinaturbin.com/c/baby-boomers/">retirement years</a>, should enhance your lifestyle with measurable happiness and fun.</p>
<p>Obviously, there are ways to turn back the clock physically, and these are surely important, especially when it comes to adopting <a href="http://www.tinaturbin.com/c/health/">healthy habits</a> such as eating a balanced diet, avoiding smoking, and getting adequate rest and exercise. Research is showing, though, that it’s habits that affect people on the inside that really yield anti-aging benefits, things which lead to a sense of inner peace, connection to others and a happy mood.  Researchers show that there are four main activities that can result in this age-defying inner life—volunteering, connecting with friends, practicing one’s faith, and keeping oneself in a good mood.</p>
<p>Boosting your health and defying the aging process doesn’t have to be a chore. If you follow these health and longevity boosters, the last years of your life are sure to be the best!</p>
